Servers
VPS vs dedicated server: what we actually mean by “server”
In our catalogue “server” means a virtual machine dedicated to the customer, with reserved resources and base management included. It does not mean an exclusive physical server: we would rather say so up front than in a clause.
A dedicated VM, not an exclusive physical server
Cloud plans assign the customer a reserved virtual machine: the CPU, RAM and disk declared in the plan are yours and are not shared with other customers. The underlying physical machine, as in most of the cloud market, hosts multiple VMs isolated from each other.
Across the market, “dedicated server” is used to mean different things. We use words by their meaning: if one day we offer reserved physical hardware, we will call it that and quote it as a project. Until then, what you buy is a managed dedicated VM, described with its real resources.
Why a dedicated VM is the right choice for most projects
A dedicated VM offers isolation from other workloads, predictable resources and an agreed stack, without the costs and lead times of physical hardware. For demanding sites, applications and typical production environments it is the proportionate solution.
When the need grows, the VM is resized or the architecture is reviewed: we propose upgrades only in front of a measured need, documented by monitoring.
When you need a custom dedicated environment
Some projects fall outside standard plans. In those cases we do not offer a catalogue plan: we run an assessment first and design the environment.
E-commerce, after an audit
For an online store with frequent orders, a daily backup may not be enough and peaks must be measured. Before any offer we audit workload, save frequencies and order recovery.
Special per-project requirements
Software with architecture or licensing constraints, commercial databases, isolation needs or non-standard configurations: these are designed via a quote, with written scope and responsibilities.
Continuity beyond a single node
A single node is not high availability. If downtime has a significant cost, we quote redundancy, load balancing and replication as a dedicated project, operating procedures included.
Custom environments: priced in the offer

If a catalogue plan is enough, we will say so. If a custom environment is needed, we design it together starting from the real requirements.
